Yes, it is true. Bedford Boats are no longer taking orders for Sabots and is now wrapping up the last Sabot, #80. I (Don) have lots to do other than making boats, like making Sabot rudder and leeboards.
True, I have more on my todo list than working on boats but I am hoping to be able to make a good set of blades at a reasonable price. Maybe not the top of the racing class but certainly good enough for most racers. My plan is to prototype several wood shapes (using my CNC router) and, when finding a good shape, make a mold to allow me to make fiberglass boards.
So, it will be a while until Bedford Blades is in production but Black Sabot in Ensinada is still making Sabots and Gresham is still making great boards.
